Today marks our 10th year of marking this day as Every Girl Matters Day in conjunction with the Day of the Girl. It has been an amazing journey and has taught us many lessons along the way. Standing up for what you believe in and for others can be challenging in so many ways, but we believe using our voice and advocating for positive change is our responsibility.
Over the past 10 years we have been able to be an advocate for equal opportunities for girls and help shape our communities through various ways including: education & dialogue, inspiration through art, care drives, scholarships, and community advocacy for making a better world by changing our thinking and through our actions.
For this year’s Every Girl Matters Day, we gifted a Chromebook to a deserving Abbotsford youth, in addition we will be working with local and abroad organizations to help provide useful items for women and girls.
If you would like to get involved or contribute, please reach out. Thank you so much to our community members that have been dedicated supporters to allow us to work towards creating more equal societies and making a difference in our own way. 💕

This year we mark our 9th Annual Every Girl Matters Day in a quieter manner. Due to current health restrictions, we planned to mark this day individually yet collectively but not with an in-person event.
The health and safety of our community members is of utmost importance to us. We do look forward to bringing back our free in person community event when health restrictions have been lifted and we have moved past this pandemic.
The provincial health authority imposed further restrictions on the Fraser East health delivery area on Sept 28, stating that COVID patients were putting a strain on local hospitals.
The rules include strict restrictions on unvaccinated individuals attending both social and organized gatherings in Abbotsford, Agassiz, Harrison, Hope, Chilliwack, and Mission.
For the safety of our attendees and volunteers we decided it would be best to mark this day in this manner. We hope that you take the time to reflect in your own way on how better to create more equitable societies for all.
We did change the language around the proclamation for this year’s event, to include the following:
“Special focus is being paid to Indigenous and 2SLGBTQ+ girls who are statistically more likely to experience violence against them than other demographic groups, and where the federal, provincial and territorial governments are committed to working together to ensure marginalized women and girls reclaim their power and place in Canadian society.”
We do anticipate gifting a Chromebook this year to a deserving Abbotsford youth, stay tuned for that. In addition, we will be working with local and abroad organizations to help provide useful care packs for women and girls.
If you would like to get involved or contribute, please reach out. Thank you so much to our community members that have been dedicated supporters to allow us to work towards creating more equal societies and making a difference in our own way.
